Trace and Christa Hagler are currently serving with United World Mission in Oaxaca, Mexico working primarily with indigenous and vulnerable populations. They moved to Oaxaca in February, 2012 and began working with a specific Zapotec people group of approximately 2,000 people who live in three villages and speak their own unique dialect. There are a handful of believers in these villages and the desire is to participate in the formation of a healthy, reproducible church among these people. Over the years, God has done amazing things among these believers and He has continued to show His faithfulness even when the believers from one village endured persecution and were finally forced to leave their homes.
Recently, the Lord has led Trace and Christa to a second unreached village, where the language spoken is Mixe. Through a medical clinic, the Lord has opened a door and developed relationships. There are currently a few families that desire to meet together and eventually form into a church.
Christa is further involved in a ministry to women who are caught in the sex-industry and who are working as prostitutes. The desire is to show the love of Christ to these women and to help them see and know their worth and value as we pray for opportunities to share Christ with them and pray that He would act on their behalf.
Trace and Christa also work with their local church in Oaxaca City where Trace serves on the preaching rotation and Christa helps head up the preschool children’s program. They are very blessed to be a part of a church that has a heart for missions and therefor there is much collaboration between the church in Oaxaca and these indigenous villages.
Trace and Christa Hagler previously called Tyler, Texas home before moving to Oaxaca. They have 4 wonderful children (Aidan-15, Rebecca- 13, Andrew-11, and Annalise- 6).
